Description
ACP tablets (Anti-Conception Pills) are a type of oral contraceptive pill (OCP) used to prevent pregnancy. These tablets generally contain synthetic hormones estrogen and progestin (or sometimes only progestin in the case of mini-pills), which work by:
- Preventing Ovulation – Stops the release of an egg from the ovaries.
- Thickening Cervical Mucus – Makes it difficult for sperm to reach the egg.
- Thinning the Uterine Lining – Reduces the chances of implantation if fertilization occurs.
Usage
- Taken once daily, preferably at the same time each day.
- Usually available in 21-day or 28-day packs
Precautions
- Should be taken consistently for effectiveness.
- Certain medications (like antibiotics or anti-epileptic drugs) can reduce effectiveness.
- Not recommended for women with a history of blood clots, stroke, or smoking over 35 years of age.
